What Are Porcelain Laminate Veneers?

Laminate veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells bonded to the front surface of a tooth. IPS e.max is a glass-ceramic material that is widely used in aesthetic restorations because its appearance comes close to the translucency of natural tooth enamel.

At our clinic, veneer treatment is planned with digital smile design; an intraoral digital scan is taken and the restorations are custom-made using our in-house CAD/CAM production line. Preparation follows a minimally invasive approach that removes as little tooth structure as possible.

Who Is It Suitable For?

Porcelain laminate veneers may be considered in the following situations:

  • People unhappy with tooth colour, staining or uneven shade
  • People who want to correct the shape, length or gaps between their teeth
  • People with slight crowding, wear, or chipped or cracked tooth edges
  • People whose teeth and gums are found suitable for veneers after examination

Suitability is determined by clinical examination. In cases such as teeth grinding (bruxism), additional measures like a night guard may be needed, and in some cases alternatives such as zirconia crowns may be more appropriate.

The Treatment Process Step by Step

Step 1

Examination and Smile Analysis

Tooth and gum health, bite and smile line are assessed and your expectations are discussed.

Step 2

Digital Design

A smile design is prepared from intraoral scan and photo data; the planned result is shared with you before treatment.

Step 3

Minimal Preparation and Impression

The teeth are prepared to the minimum extent necessary, a digital impression is taken and temporary restorations may be placed.

Step 4

Fabrication and Bonding

IPS e.max restorations are produced with the in-house CAD/CAM system and bonded to the teeth after fit and shade checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do veneers damage the teeth?

Veneer preparation usually removes a very thin layer from the tooth surface, so the procedure is not fully reversible. The amount depends on the case and is kept as small as possible with a minimally invasive approach. Details are explained at the examination.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Durability depends on personal factors such as oral hygiene, biting habits, teeth grinding and regular check-ups. No exact duration can be promised; good care and follow-up visits contribute to the lifespan of the restoration.

What should I pay attention to after getting veneers?

Keep brushing and flossing regularly, avoid habits such as nail biting or biting hard objects, and keep your check-ups. If you grind your teeth, your dentist may recommend a night guard.
